Waiver Wire Pickups, Week 5: Will Dissly needs to be added if he’s somehow still available, while Jacoby Brissett and Geronimo Allison are lesser-owned players worth a look.
Another week is in the books and it’s time once again to explore the waiver wire to see how we might be able to improve our team. Week 4 had a few injuries that can impact the waivers, but it didn’t seem quite as bad as the previous weeks. There are also a few players who are coming back from suspensions in week five or shortly after that were added to this week’s waiver wire article.

If you happened to be on the losing side of the injury bug this week or simply are looking to bolster your team, even more, there are definitely some strong waiver wire candidates entering Week 5.
I’ve identified several players who could be quality fantasy additions to your team after Week 4. They might be taking on a new role after an injury, flying under the radar, or possibly beginning to catch the attention of fantasy football fans.
As always we want to pay attention to injuries as more news comes out. Most of the players listed below are the ones who are most likely available on your waiver wire in your league. Every player listed is owned in less than 50 percent of leagues (Yahoo and ESPN formats) with a few who might have a little more ownership, but possibly available.
Week 5 Waiver Wire: Possibly owned, but worth a look
Darrel Williams (RB, KC)
Darrel Williams had another decent game filling in for Damien Williams. He managed 8 rushes for 13 yards and 2 touchdowns while also catching 3 passes for 43 yards. Things could have been different if he doesn’t score, but he’s worth an add if he’s still looking at playing time with injuries to the backs ahead of him.
Will Dissly (TE, SEA)
Will Dissly scores again this week making it 4 touchdowns in three games and ended with 7 receptions for 57 yards. He looks like a consistent target for Russell Wilson as he has 5+ targets in the last three games. His ownership is around 83% on Yahoo!, but only 63% on ESPN. If he’s on the waivers he’s definitely worth an add especially in the tight end landscape we have.
Jameis Winston (QB, TB)
Jameis Winston showed up again this week with 385 yards and 4 touchdowns. He did throw a pick, but he seems to be adapting to the Bruce Arians offense. He’s worth a look if your hurting at QB as he’s right around 60% ownership. You will inevitably have some regrets playing him certain weeks, but with Tampa often being in situations where they have to throw he’s a decent addition.
Week 5 Waiver Wire: Less than 50% ownership
Jacoby Brissett (QB, IND)
Jacoby Brissett had another strong outing with 265 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 19 yards on 5 carries. He’s had 250 yards and 2+ touchdowns in the last 2 games. He goes up against Kansas City in Week 5, which means they are most likely going to have to throw the ball.
Ronald Jones II ( RB, TB)
Ronald Jones ran for 70 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown on Sunday while also adding 1 catch for 12 yards. He’s managed 12+ touches in three of the first four games and has had 14+ the last two. Should his usage continue to be similar he might be a decent flex play moving forward.
Golden Tate (WR, NYG)
Tate is back from his suspension in week 5 and a Giants offense with Daniel Jones can score points. He’s really close to 50% ownership in some formats but worth checking out if you’re in need of wide receiver help.
Zach Pascal (WR, IND)
T.Y. Hilton was inactive in Week 4 and Pascal stepped up with 4 receptions for 72 yards. It wasn’t anything overly impressive, but more playing time and targets could come his way. He’s worth an add if Hilton should miss more time.
Chester Rogers (WR, IND)
Chester Rogers had 3 receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown. Just like with Pascal, Rogers could be in line for more targets and playing time. He’s also worth an add pending Hilton injury news.
Geronimo Allison (WR, GB)
Davante Adams left the game Sunday with a toe injury and although reports say he avoided a serious injury he might end up missing some time. If he does Allison becomes at least the No. 2 option for Rodgers, which can be profitable. He’s definitely worth an add.
Cole Beasley (WR, BUF)
Beasley continues to be heavily targeted and has 23 targets over the last two weeks. He’s not going to set the world on fire, but he’s got a decent floor with 36 targets thus far this year and catching 24 for 246 yards. Beasley actually is tied for 9th in the NFL for targets at the wide receiver position entering week 5.
Mohamed Sanu (WR, ATL)
Sanu had a whopping 12 targets this week and caught 9 of them for 91 yards. He’s a decent pickup if you’re looking for receiver help as he’s had at least 6 targets every game so far this year. He won’t be the main target as long as Julio is on the field, but the Falcons aren’t looking as good as projected, which means more passing attempts.
Chris Herndon (TE, NYJ)
Herndon is still serving his suspension and can’t play until week 6, but you might be able to pick him up this week for a bargain. If you’ve got room to hold onto him he’s worth a stash. Especially with Sam Darnold possibly returning in a few games, which will help the entire offense.
