The fantasy playoffs are here (besides your Week 17 championship leagues). Congratulations to those managers who have made it and if you did you can throw out anything that has happened prior to the playoffs. No matter your record or seed, you simply need to put out the best possible team one week at a time. Hopefully, some of the waiver wire guys listed below may be able to help you get that coveted championship.
Something I’ve continued to mention is to be aware of who is also dropped from other teams. Between COVID, injuries, and teams possibly making a tough call to make the playoffs you might find some gems. For example, after the Joe Mixon IR news, he had been dropped by a good amount of teams and now is rostered on 6% fewer teams than before. If you’re looking good for the playoffs and a guy like Mixon is available you can definitely go out and get him to sit on your bench. If he does come back in Week 14 then you have additional help for the playoff push.
As always though I am here to try to identify some of the more popular waiver wire additions, some deeper league options, and some to keep an eye on up until your waivers run. Now every league may be a little different, but I will be looking at players who are on 50% or less of teams across Yahoo and ESPN platforms. I will also include some players who might be above 50%, but are worth the look to see if they’re available in your league.
Week 14 Waiver Wire: Possibly taken, but worth a look
Kirk Cousins (QB, MIN)
Cousins showed up again and threw for 305 yards and 3 touchdowns in Week 13. He’s on around 69% of teams on Yahoo, but down around 49% on ESPN. The Vikings get the Buccaneers in Week 14 and you can feel comfortable rolling out Cousins once again.
Wayne Gallman (RB, NYG)
Gallman continues to sit right around 20-25 % availability on both Yahoo and ESPN. Gallman rushed 16 times for 135 yards in Week 13. His schedule isn’t the best moving forward, but he is someone that should be owned as he has seen at least 15 touches in the last 4 games.
Corey Davis (WR, TEN)
Davis was listed last week in this article and had quite possibly the best game of his career in Week 13 and hopefully, you were able to bask in the glory of starting him. He caught 11 of 12 targets for 182 yards and a touchdown. He’s on around 71% of Yahoo teams, but down around 51% of ESPN teams.
Week 14 Waiver Wire: On less than 50% of teams
Philip Rivers (QB, IND)
Rivers brought another decent performance in Week 13 as he threw for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns. He continues to bring a decent floor to the quarterback position if you have been streaming. The Colt also will face off against the Raiders in Week 14, which should be a competitive game. Feel free to go back to the well if you’re needing to stream a quarterback.
TY Hilton (WR, IND)
Hilton continued his rebound campaign and posted 8 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown in Week 13. He now has 16 targets, 12 receptions, 191 yards, and 2 touchdowns in the last two weeks. He is still widely available and can be picked up moving forward.
Keke Coutee (WR, HOU)
Coutee showed up in place of Will Fuller in Week 13 and caught 8 receptions for 141 yards. We want to temper expectations moving forward as the Texans will face the Chicago Bears in Week 14 who are 30th in points given up to the wide receiver position. Then they get the Colts in Week 15 who are 24th in points to the wide receiver position.
Ty Johnson (RB, NYJ)
A deeper league option, but Frank Gore left the game with a possible concussion. Johnson proceeded to rush 22 times for 104 yards and a touchdown. He also caught 2 receptions for 13 yards. You will want to monitor Frank Gore’s status moving forward, but should he miss time Johnson is worth a pickup. Once again, playing any Jets player comes with risk and is not fun whatsoever.
Cam Akers (RB, LAR)
Akers continues to get more attention from fantasy football managers but still is widely available. In Week 13 he rushed 21 times for 72 yards and a touchdown. He also caught 1 reception for 22 yards. Once again, this Rams backfield has been near impossible to decipher. However, if Akers continues to get this type of volume he can bring a much-needed boost to any playoff team.
J.D. McKissic (RB, WFT)
Antonio Gibson left the game on Monday with a toe injury. Should he miss extended time McKissic and Peyton Barber would be taking over the reins in the backfield. McKissic would be the pickup over Barber in half and full PPR as he saw 10 receptions for 70 yards on Monday night. With Peyton Barber, you’re essentially hoping he falls into the endzone.
Anthony Firkser (TE, TEN)
Tight end is a rough spot for many this year, but Firsker caught 5 receptions for 51 yards in Week 13 in replacement of Jonnu Smith. Smith who was dealing with a knee injury could miss more time and Firkser would be a decent streaming option if that was the case. It won’t be pretty, but a tight end getting targets is what we’re looking for when we’re streaming tight ends.
