Turkey Day is right around the corner! You know what else is right around the corner? Darnell Mooney dropping another monster game on the Lions during their annual Thanksgiving loss!
Thanksgiving would not be as amazing as it is without football all day, so here I am to give you my weekly waiver wire picks to make it even more enjoyable. Even though the waiver wire may not be as strong this week, there are certainly emerging stars. In honor of the turkeys, I hereby present to you, the Week 12 waiver wire:
Note: Teams on bye include Cardinals, Chiefs

Week 12 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets: Likely Available (Under 50% owned)
Adam Trautman, NO- TE (7%)
When Trevor Siemian initially took over quarterback duties in New Orleans, Trautman registered a 6-target game, and since then, Trautman has never seen fewer targets. Siemian seems to be a tight end’s guy, which is great for Trautman. After seeing high volume but low production for 4 straight games, Trautman finally broke out against the Eagles, tallying 8 targets for 5 catches, 58 yards, and a score. Trautman is worthwhile for desperate teams looking for a tight end.
Rondale Moore, ARI- WR (23%)
In the absence of both Kyler Murray and Deandre Hopkins, Moore finally stepped up and caught all 11 of his targets. Deandre Hopkins may miss more time with an apparently serious hamstring injury, which bumps up Moore’s value. Going into the bye week, Moore has upgraded his status to a bench stash just in case Hopkins does miss another game.
Ty Johnson, NYJ- RB (20%)
Michael Carter left Sunday’s game in the 3rd quarter due to an ankle injury and did not return. We’ve since learned that Carter will miss 2-3 games, and Ty Johnson is likely to be the next man up to take the bulk of the carries despite Tevin Coleman getting more touches late in the game. Ty Johnson’s value in the passing game is what will likely earn him the starting role over Coleman. If Johnson turns out to be the starter, he has some FLEX appeal going against the Texans.
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, TEN- WR (0%)
A.J. Brown left Week 11’s game against the Texans. Twice. Things don’t look particularly bright for Brown going into a Week 12 duel with Bill Belichick and the Patriots secondary. The silver lining however is that in Brown’s last absence, NWI hit 8 targets, and did the same this past week notching 107 yards without Brown. NWI is worth a look at due to the constant injuries to Brown and Julio Jones.
Evan Engram, NYG- TE (32%)
Engram went into the Giants’ bye with three straight solid games under his belt. As of the time of this article’s writing, the Giants are yet to play the Bucs, although Engram should expect a good amount of targets being that he is one of Daniel Jones’ only 100% healthy pass catchers. In addition, Engram has a mouth-watering schedule for tight ends to end the season. Engram should definitely be picked up in fantasy leagues as he is a good backup at the minimum.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling, GB- WR (9%)
MVS broke out this past week in the absence of Aaron Jones, and he broke out big. With Rodgers’ targeting him 10 times, MVS was able to notch 123 yards and a touchdown. Even though the Packers will be facing a tough Rams defense, MVS is still worth a stash if this volume were to continue going forward.
Andy Dalton, CHI- QB (0%)
Andy Dalton relieved the injured Justin Fields in the third quarter and looked great. On Dalton’s first drive in the game, he orchestrated a 2 play drive starting in his own redzone to get the Bears on the board. Dalton also established a connection with breakout star Darnell Mooney, to whom he targeted a whopping 16 times! If Fields were to be out in Week 12, Dalton would become a serviceable QB for the upcoming Thanksgiving slugfest in Detroit.
Chester Rogers, TEN- WR (1%)
Rogers is in a very similar situation as NWI. Rogers is only emerging due to injuries to A.J. Brown, Julio Jones, and now Marcus Johnson. With a terribly injured Titans offense, Rogers could come out to be one of Tannehill’s top targets against the Patriots in Week 12 following a 6 target outing on Sunday.
Week 12 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets: Worth a Look (Over 50% owned)
Darnell Mooney, CHI- WR (56%)
Darnell Mooney? More like Darnell Money! I honestly have no clue why 44% of leagues have not picked Mooney up. He has been tearing through fantasy leagues, especially in Week 12 when he logged an insane 16 targets for 121 yards and a touchdown. Not only has Mooney proved his worth in starting lineups, but he also proved his worthiness as a top 75 draft pick in next season’s draft because of the likely development between him and Fields. Despite being in the “Worth a Look” section this week, Mooney is nevertheless my premier waiver pick of the week.
Cam Newton, CAR- QB (51%)
Cam put on a show in his Carolina return on Sunday. With 3 total touchdowns and a matchup against Miami next week, Cam is more than worthwhile to pick up in fantasy leagues. Could this be the return of MVP Cam? It’s too early to tell, but it’s also too early to pass. Pick. Up. Cam. Period.
Elijah Moore, NYJ- WR (57%)
What’s that? Another great week for Moore? 8 catches, 141 yards and a touchdown was more than enough to do the job for Elijah Moore in Week 11. With 5 straight productive weeks, Moore should be inserted into the FLEX spot weekly, especially with an incredibly easy schedule for receivers coming up to end the year.
