Week 15 Streaming QBs and DSTs: Two of the biggest positions for streaming in fantasy are quarterback and defense. Week 15 Streaming QBs

Taysom Hill (@TB)

Oddly, widely available coming into Week 15 is Taysom Hill. Hill is fresh off of two excellent fantasy starts and he has another opportunity to shine in Week 15 against the Bucs. 

In his last two games, it has been Hill’s legs that really have generated fantasy points – to no surprise. In these two games, he has rushed for a total of 174 yards on 22 attempts and scored two rushing touchdowns, while adding 439 passing yards, four interceptions, and two passing touchdowns. His fantasy finishes for these two games, respectively, were 22.66 and 26.3-fantasy points.

Tampa Bay is a defense that tends to be friendly to opposing quarterbacks. They allow an average of 18.7-FPPG to the position and that is sixth-most in the NFL. 

Sure, most quarterbacks do their damage against Tampa Bay’s secondary, but we know that Taysom Hill’s X-factor is his rushing ability and not his arm. Examining the Bucs’ rushing trends against quarterbacks you can quickly find they have allowed the sixth-most rushing yards to the position, with the ninth-highest yards per carry as well. With this in mind, Hill should be able to log another QB1 finish for streaming managers. 

Hill remains available in 43-percent of fantasy leagues heading into Week 15. 

Justin Fields (vs MIN)

Making his inaugural appearance to the streamers column in Week 15 is Justin Fields, who will be taking on the Minnesota Vikings in Chicago.

The Vikings get crushed against opposing quarterbacks and in their last four games, they have allowed an average of 23.34-FPPG to the position. Just last week this Minnesota defense allowed a waning Ben Roethlisberger to successfully score 26.82-fantasy points, which is far from Minnesota’s worst effort against a quarterback.

While Justin Fields has struggled at times for the Bears, he does seem to be reliable for streaming purposes. Over his last four games, Fields has finished with 18-fantasy points in every week but one; the one week he failed to score 18 points was when he was injured which caused him to miss two games.

The reason we have seen more fantasy usage out of Fields is easy because of his running ability. Through the first four games as a starter Fields averaged 14 rushing yards per contest. That average has now bloated into 61.25 rushing yards per game over his last four. 

Fields is an up-and-coming rookie and sometimes these rookies simply need game-reps in order to become better. For Fields, it seems to be trending up and fantasy managers should jump onto this new style of play for Fields.

Fields remains available in 85-percent of ESPN leagues heading into Week 15.

Tua Tagovailoa (vs NYJ)

Consistency matters in fantasy football and a consistent QB2 to stream in Week 15 is Tua Tagovailoa who takes on the New York Jets.

Tua continues to play well for the Dolphins as they have won five in a row. In his last three games, Tagovailoa has averaged a completion rate of 80.7-percent and has scored a total of five touchdowns to only one turnover.

Tagovailoa traveled to play the Jets as recently as Week 11. In that contest, he finished with 273 passing yards on an 81.8 completion rate, two touchdowns, and one interception for a total of 17.52-fantasy points.

Admittedly Tagovailoa is never a guy to play in order to get a ceiling game, but sometimes all you need to know is that you are going to get 15-to-20-fantasy points from your streaming quarterback and that is exactly what Tagovailoa should do for your fantasy team. Obviously going against the Jets could make things even better for Tua. The Jets have allowed an average of 19.48-FPPG to the position over their last four contests.

While Tagovailoa may not light up the fantasy scoreboard, he is a consistent fantasy asset and should be able to finish as an upper-end QB2. He remains available in over 60-percent of ESPN leagues heading into waivers.

Week 15 Streaming DSTs

Miami Dolphins D/ST (vs NYJ)

The Jets continue to help out opposing fantasy defenses and fantasy managers need to continue attacking this team into the fantasy playoffs. 

While the Jets may have played a turnover-free Week 14, they still allowed the Saints’ D/ST to finish with nine-fantasy points on the week. This easily highlights why the Jets give your D/ST a great fantasy floor. Luckily, on top of that, the Jets allow the most takeaways in the NFL with 25. New York has also allowed 36 sacks on the year which is seventh-most.

Miami’s defense continues to surge into the fantasy playoffs and just a few weeks ago they logged two sacks and one fumble recovery against this Jets’ offense. Miami’s D/ST has scored double-digit fantasy points in four of their last five games. Additionally in the aforementioned timeframe, Miami has averaged 3.8 sacks, 1.6 interceptions and 0.6 fumble recoveries on a per-game basis.

Miami’s match-up against the New York Jets looks solid coming off of their BYE week. The Dolphins are available in 55-percent of ESPN leagues heading into waivers.

Arizona Cardinals D/ST (@DET)

Facing off against the Lions in Week 15 is none other than the Arizona Cardinals.

The Lions continue to struggle on the season and late-season injuries, coupled with some players contracting COVID, have exacerbated their struggles even further.

The Lions turn the ball over more than the league’s median average. Additionally, they struggle to score points on a consistent basis and are a bottom-10 team against protecting their quarterback, allowing 33 sacks on the year.

The Lions have yet to make any opposing fantasy D/ST finish with a negative fantasy score, which allows your D/ST a great floor for the week. And just last week they allowed the Broncos’ D/ST to log two sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery, while only scoring 10-game points.

Opposing D/STs continue to be an auto-start when they match up against Detroit. The Cardinals are coming off a difficult matchup against the Los Angeles Rams and easily could have been dropped by your league opponents. They are available in 19-Percent of ESPN Leagues.

Dallas Cowboys D/ST (@NYG)

Looking to continue their surging defense is the Dallas Cowboys facing off against the Giants. 

The Cowboys’ defense has played well from a fantasy perspective all season and they are finally getting all of their studs on the field at once. Against Washington, those aforementioned studs shined through and led Dallas to a victory on the road in Week 14.

While quarterback Daniel Jones should be back under center against Dallas, whoever starts at quarterback for the Giants could easily struggle against the Cowboys. In the last three games, the Dallas defense has averaged 3.3 sacks, one fumble recovery, and 0.8 interceptions. They even scored 24-fantasy points against the Washington Football team in Week 14. 

Looking back at the Dallas D/ST against the Giants earlier in Week 5, the Cowboys finished with nine-fantasy points across two interceptions, one being a pick-six.

Dallas’ schedule for the fantasy playoffs also looks to be solid for Week 15 and 16. They remain available in 45-percent of ESPN leagues heading into Week 15.
