Plenty of blank stares and jaw dropping moments are still to come, but Week 1 was a great indication of what’s in store this season. If any of you haven’t read my Week 2 FanDuel article, it will give you some additional players to consider for this week for your Week 2 Yahoo DFS lineup.
As with any purchase you make in life, you need to shop around to find the right price. This week on FanDuel, I was able to make a much stronger lineup with their player costs. I’m a big advocate of both FanDuel and Yahoo DFS (as they’re both half PPR and offer good tournament play), but always double check to see if you can create a better lineup elsewhere. With that in mind, here’s my Week 2 Yahoo DFS lineup to help get your mind thinking on tournament play this week.

QB – Alex Smith (WAS) vs. IND ($32)
Alex Smith looked phenomenal in his season opener against the Cardinals. With a healthy Chris Thompson and Jordan Reed, Smith was able to throw at a 70 percent completion rate. Facing a lackluster Colts defense this week, the Redskins are just getting started. Last week, Andy Dalton was able to throw for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns while bolstering a 109.7 passer rating. If that’s any indication, Smith bodes very well in this matchup. In a game that has the Redskins projected to score 30 points, there’s no reason Smith’s floor should be any lower than 300 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.
RB – James Conner (PIT) vs. KC ($24)
A repeat from my Week 2 FanDuel lineup, James Conner is just too valuable and in too good of a position not to roster. The undoubted chalk of the week looks to continue his magnificent effort from a week ago. Playing against a Chiefs D that allowed 292 total yards to Chargers RB’s last week, Conner will create many fantasy opportunities and could definitely hurt you if not rostered.
RB – Christian McCaffrey (CAR) at ATL ($23)
A very reasonable price for someone who’s slated to touch the ball over 20 times on a good offense. My expectation is that CMAC will be rostered much lower than he should be this week because of his slow start to the season. Remember, this is a guy who is going to get 15-20 carries a week with 5-10 pass targets on top of that. With Greg Olsen out this week, McCaffrey stands to take on an even greater workload. Not to mention the fact that the Falcons have given up the most receptions to RB’s in each of the last three seasons (yeah, each of the last three seasons, surprised me too). He’s not a sexy pick after his upsetting performance last week and his matchup against the Falcons on the road doesn’t seem great on paper, but this is exactly why you should roster him this week. He’s actually in a great spot and many DFS players won’t realize it till it’s too late.
WR – Michael Thomas (NO) vs. CLE ($30)
Many were calling for Thomas to jump into the top tier of WR’s this year and boy did he make a convincing argument in Week 1’s outing. He hauled in an astounding 16 catches on 17 targets last week. Next up are the Browns, who just surrendered 212 yards to Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster a week ago. Expect double-digit targets in this one with plenty of ceiling to reach for. If the Browns keep this one close enough, Thomas should hit his Week 1 numbers again.
WR – JuJu Smith-Schuster (PIT) vs. KC ($27)
The alternative to Antonio Brown, Smith-Schuster sets up as a cheaper bargain with just as much potential. In the highest projected total of the week at 54 points, there’s no reason JuJu should tally anything less than 100 receiving yards. Even on a terrible day for Ben Roethlisberger, Juju saw 119 receiving yards against the Browns. You want plenty of exposure to this game come Sunday, and playing JuJu is one of a few great ways to do that.
WR – Quincy Enunwa (NYJ) vs. MIA ($14)
Another repeat from my Week 2 FanDuel lineup, Enunwa is just too cheap with too much potential not to pay down for. In doing so, you can roster an additional elite player elsewhere this week. One stat that stuck out in particular was the Dolphins ability to limit long passes. They allowed just one catch for more than 20 yards against the Titans. As Enunwa functions as Sam Darnold’s safety net, there should be plenty of short throws to him in what should be another productive day for the featured WR.
TE – Jordan Reed (WAS) vs. IND ($20)
Jordan Reed played a full game last week (waits for crowd applause). Finally, the star TE is once again showing signs of his true potential. It only took one week before Reed saw a red zone target from Alex Smith and got into the end zone. Seeing how fond Smith has been of TE’s in the past, the Smith-Reid duo could be in for a very productive season. Reed gets another great matchup against the Colts in a game where the Redskins figure to score several times.
FLEX – Lamar Miller (TEX) at TEN ($20)
In a great spot this week playing a Titans team that just lost a crucial part of their offense (Delanie Walker – out for the year), I expect to see the Texans control the flow of this game. Miller saw 20 carries last week and was targeted twice in the passing game. He continues to be praised by the coaching staff as their three-down back. At a fair $20 price, he should be worthy of rostering in hopes that he gets 100+ yards and grabs a touchdown.
*With Tevin Coleman being the lead back in Atlanta for the Falcons-Panthers game (Devonta Freeman – Out), I can’t argue against wanting exposure to him as well. He costs a mere $17 and figures to be just as productive both as a runner and pass catcher. He’s a great alternative play to Miller if you’d rather go to that game.
DEF – Texans (TEX) at TEN ($10)
An absolute steal, at the minimum price of $10, the Texans should be a highly rostered DEF this week on Yahoo. They are set to play the Titans, who not only lost Walker for the year, but are also playing with a banged up Marcus Mariota. Coach Mike Vrabel announced that both Marcus Mariota and Blaine Gabbert will play snaps this week. If that gives us any indication of how poorly the Titans offensive is right now, it could be a great day in Tennessee for the Houston Texans. In a projected low scoring game of 43.5 points, I’m looking at few other spots on Yahoo for this week.
