The following players are primed for success in Week 6, and won’t cost you much in DraftKings or FanDuel.
Week 6 DFS Value Plays
Kirk Cousins, QB, Minnesota Vikings
FanDuel: $7,100; DraftKings: $6,100
The Vikings season has not gone according to plan, and part of the reason is Kirk Cousins quarterback play. Hosting the Atlanta Falcons Week 6 the Vikings and Cousins have a great matchup to get their seasons back on track. The words “hosting the Atlanta Falcons” should really be enough, but here are some stats anyway; the Falcons rank 31st in points allowed, 31st in total yards per game, and 31st in passing yards per game. The Falcons are one of the worst defenses in the NFL by every metric.
The Vikings are without Dalvin Cook, but it’s hard to believe it will even matter. Costing close to the starting quarterback minimum, Cousins is a great stream option this week.
David Montgomery, RB, Chicago Bears
FanDuel: $5,900; DraftKings: $5,800
Despite being an ineffective runner through the season’s first five weeks, Montgomery has been a solid starting RB option for fantasy football averaging 13.4 points per game. Over the past two weeks without Tarik Cohen, Montgomery has seen an increase in his pass work. Montgomery has totaled 14 targets and 10 receptions over the past two games, including a season-high 8 targets and 7 receptions Week 5. Typically receiving around 15-20 touches per game, Montgomery gets plenty of volume in both the run and pass game.
The Bears travel to Carolina this week which presents Montgomery with a nice matchup to exploit. The Panthers currently rank 32nd against opposing fantasy running backs and allow over 130 yards per game on the ground. Expect Montgomery to see his typical workload and find the end zone.
Terry McLaurin, WR, Washington Football Team
FanDuel: $6,900; DraftKings: $5,700
McLaurin is undervalued this week facing a better than advertised New York Giants defense. Benching Dwayne Haskins made clear that Head Coach Ron Rivera thinks Washington has enough talent to win the NFC East. However, as Washington likely struggles to find wins all season it becomes imperative that they win divisional games, and traveling to New York offers Washington a great opportunity to do so. Kyle Allen is expected to remain as the starting QB and this may work in McLaurin’s favor.
The Giants are better than average against the pass ranking 11th in yards per game, but McLaurin should remain heavily involved in the Washington offense as the teams clear cut number one receiver. Averaging over 9 targets a game, McLaurin is a bargain this week at his current DFS price.
Brandin Cooks, WR, Houston Texans
FanDuel: $5,700; DraftKings: $5,000
Two weeks ago Cooks was held without a reception. Last week Cooks exploded for 8 receptions and 161 yards. The insane variance in performances and usage makes Cooks an incredibly frustrating fantasy football player, despite his undeniable on field talent.
Chalking up the Texans first win as a post-Bill O’Brien mental boost, the Texans now have to revert back to beating teams by actually being better than them, which could be a struggle. Thankfully, the Texans get the undefeated Titans on an extra short week as the Titans played just this past Tuesday. In addition to hopefully getting the Titans a little lethargic, Deshaun Watson and co. face a bottom 10 pass defense in the league. This quietly presents itself as an exploitable matchup for Cooks and Watson, and offers the Texans to chance to not only notch their second win but win a division game and beat their undefeated rival.
Keelan Cole, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
FanDuel: $5,600; DraftKings: $4,900
Facing an average Detroit Lions secondary and likely playing without fellow wideout DJ Chark, Cole can be utilized as a streaming option Week 6. Cole has been a consistent performer for both the Jaguars and fantasy football managers. Cole has found the end zone in 3 of 5 games and has a fantastic catch rate of 72%. Seeing an average of 6 targets per game Cole is not likely to produce a gaudy statistical day but nonetheless has remained consistently involved in the Jaguars offense. If DJ Chark is indeed out for today’s game, Cole at his current DFS price could be a roster-building steal.
