Following another week that saw several key injuries, and with four teams on a bye, here are the top Week 6 fantasy football waiver wire targets.
Last week was bad, this week is worse.
Week 5 had several injuries going into Week 6, the first week of byes. Fantasy owners are panicking (rightfully so) and will likely need to make some changes through the waiver wire. Unfortunately, waivers aren’t particularly strong for the second week in a row, especially in terms of quarterbacks.
Note: Teams on a bye include Falcons, Jets, Saints, 49ers

Week 6 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets: Likely Available (Under 50% owned)
Kadarius Toney, NYG – WR (17%)
Boy, were we wrong. Back in April Giants GM Dave Gettleman was being laughed at for his Kadarius Toney selection. But here we are in Week 6, and Toney has broken out with two big games.
Toney has demonstrated elite elusiveness when he gets the ball down the middle. He could become a valuable FLEX player as long as the other 3 starting receivers on the Giants are dealing with injuries. Since he assumed the starting role, Toney has logged 16 catches and a whopping 267 yards.
Assuming he is not suspended after throwing a punch on Sunday, he is a must-pick-up in fantasy leagues. He’s seeing an incredible amount of volume and yardage, despite not finding the endzone yet.
Tim Patrick, DEN – WR (31%)
Tim Patrick made an appearance on my Week 4 list and is making a return this week, following a 16-point PPR performance.
It still confuses me how Patrick is only owned in 31% of leagues. Patrick has shown consistency in catches and targets this whole season and has been productive even with just 2 TDs on the year.
The 30th ranked PPR receiver in the NFL should be picked up and considered for a FLEX play week in and week out.
Carson Wentz, IND – QB (13%)
Before I talk about the only quarterback on this list, you may have noticed that there is no QB section this week. It’s because the position has a terrible group of guys on waivers going into Week 6, so I’d like to make a quick PSA:
Do not pick up a quarterback this week unless you absolutely need to. Whoever your quarterback is, I assure you, he will do better than anyone on waivers.
Between bye weeks and injuries, there aren’t many options for QBs, leaving us with Carson Wentz who’s been … consistent. It’s about the best you’re gonna get this week.
Wentz hasn’t had flashy numbers this season and has been dealing with injuries. The biggest positive about Wentz is that he faces the Houston defense in Week 6.

Darrel Williams, KC – RB (16%)
Chiefs RB1 Clyde Edwards-Helaire is expected to miss a few weeks with an MCL sprain, promoting Darrel Williams to the starting role. Williams should be serviceable for a few weeks, although likely nothing more than that.
Williams could be worth your waiver move if you need a running back during the first wave of bye weeks.
Hunter Renfrow, LV – WR (45%)
Renfrow, another player making a return to the waiver wire list since Week 4.
Renfrow did not specifically impress in Week 5, although he did have 8 targets on the day and has had at least 10 PPR points every week so far.
The only hesitation with Renfrow at this point is a possible change in Las Vegas’ unique, even target spread, now that HC Jon Gruden has suddenly resigned.
Khalil Herbert, CHI – RB (19%)
If you missed out on Damien Williams last week and still want to capitalize on the completely new Chicago offense, do not fear, for Khalil Herbert is here!
As a matter of fact, Herbert actually outrushed Williams in Week 5, and he could play a big role in a run-heavy offense while RB1 David Montgomery is out.
Amon-Ra St. Brown, DET – WR (3%)
Amon-Ra St. Brown, a former 5-star recruit and 4th round pick out of USC, was a sleeper pick for many in fantasy drafts. But many lost hope in that belief quite early.
However, his time may have come. He recorded his second straight 6-plus catch game this week and seems to be more involved in the Lions offense.
Especially now that Quintez Cephus’ season may be over with a collarbone injury, Amon-Ra is certainly worth the stash.

Hunter Henry, NE – TE (46%)
Hunter Henry is coming off an 8-target game in addition to his second consecutive week with a score.
Just barely under the 50% mark, Henry should be considered a priority pick. He may be heavily targeted because of the recent tight end struggles. Henry should just scratch his way into the top 8 TEs in Week 6.
Devontae Booker, NYG – RB (6%)
Saquon Barkley is expected to be out for a few weeks and Devontae Booker is likely going to be his replacement. Booker was very involved in the red zone in Week 5, notching 2 TDs on 3 catches and 16 rush attempts.
In addition to Barkley going down, Big Blue also lost the likes of Kenny Golladay, Daniel Jones, and a questionable Kadarius Toney. This could lead to a run-heavy Week 6.
Booker should be a high-end RB3 for the next few weeks while the top 4 pass catchers on the Giants are absent along with their quarterback.
Week 6 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets: Worth a Look (Over 50% owned)
Dawson Knox, BUF – TE (78%)
Does this pick even need an explanation? Knox has been incredible so far this season and would be a miracle for any Kittle owners who need a long-term replacement.
Knox is establishing himself as a top fantasy tight end with 5 TDs already on the year. Being second in points scored among his position, only to future Hall of Famer Travis Kelce, Knox is a must-add. It doesn’t matter how great your tight-end situation is.
Damien Williams, CHI – RB (79%)
David Montgomery went down with a knee injury a couple of weeks back. This should keep him out for around five weeks.
However, Williams has held up nicely in fantasy, totaling 100+ yards and 2 TDs since Montgomery went down. He should continue being a solid RB2 for the next few weeks.
