With several teams on a bye this week, and more key running backs IR-bound, here are the top Week 7 fantasy football waiver wire targets.
Week 7 has bye weeks galore, and chances are, you have at least one player on a bye this week. The likes of Amari Cooper, Austin Ekeler, Najee Harris, Josh Allen, and many more won’t be playing this week. Teams on a bye aren’t the only thing we have a lot of this week. Several top RBs are out or on the IR heading into Week 7.
The quarterback section returns this week, as four handcuff running backs make the list. Here is your Week 7, and maybe even most important, list of top waiver-wire targets.
Note: Teams on a bye include Bills, Chargers, Cowboys, Jaguars, Steelers, Vikings

Week 7 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets: Likely Available (Under 50% owned)
Amon-Ra St. Brown, DET – WR (23%)
Amon-Ra is on the list for a second consecutive week and logged 7 targets with a 2-point conversion on top. Although St. Brown did not have an incredible outing on Sunday, he should still be picked up due to his increase in production now that Cephus is out for the year. We can expect Amon-Ra’s PPG to do nothing other than increase for the remainder of the season.
Tim Patrick, DEN – WR (35%)
Tim Patrick, the first player to appear three times on the waiver list, is still available and 65% of leagues are really missing out on his talent. Tim Patrick has been very consistent, either having a solid amount of yards, catches, or a score every game. Patrick absolutely needs to be picked up in all leagues and is a weekly FLEX option.
Ricky Seals-Jones, WAS – TE (29%)
Starting Washington tight end Logan Thomas is on the IR with a hamstring injury, leaving Ricky Seals-Jones to start. In Seals-Jones’ two starts so far this season, he has amassed 15 targets and a touchdown. Since Thomas isn’t expected to return until Week 10, Seals-Jones will serve as a valuable plug and play for bye week or injury holes.
J.D. McKissic, WAS- RB (42%)
J.D. McKissic has had a very up and down season so far but could be used as a plug and play for any injuries or bye weeks. So far, his floor is close to zero but his ceiling is over 20. McKissic could be used in PPR leagues due to his high volume on pass plays this season, but should not be trusted as anything more than a boom or bust RB3 in regular scoring.
T.Y. Hilton, IND- WR (39%)
T.Y. Hilton played his first game since January 3rd this past Sunday, following a 5-week stint on the IR. Hilton wasn’t incredible in Week 6, but he did have a nice 52-yard catch. He also left the game with a quad injury, but this seems to have been precautionary. Keep tabs on his status to be safe, but based on his impressive past resume in the Fantasy Football world, Hilton could very well be worth the add, possibly becoming a weekly FLEX play.
Demetric Felton, CLE- RB (9%)
The Cleveland Browns went into the season with debatably the best running back core in the league, and are now looking to the back end of their depth chart to step up. Demetric Felton has 9 targets on the year so far and seems to be the best temporary replacement, but D’ernest Johnson will likely be the early-down back. In PPR leagues, Felton is definitely the way to go due to his involvement in the passing game, but regular scoring leagues could go either way on this one.
Week 7 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets: Worth a Look (Over 50% owned)
Jaylen Waddle, MIA – WR (66%)
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa made his return to the IR in Week 6 and made it very clear that he is fond of his rookie wideout Jaylen Waddle. Being used consistently in the short game throughout the season, Waddle amassed 13 targets in London this week, tying his season-high. With those targets, he added 2 TDs on 10 catches, for his best performance of the season in all key statistics. Waddle should be owned in all leagues as he starts to heat up.
Alex Collins, SEA – RB (59%)
Even before RB1 Chris Carson was fully out, Collins still got a few reps. Now that Carson landed on the IR, keeping him out for at least three games, Collins has RB2 juice for a few weeks. His owned percentage is already up 30% in the last week, but Collins should be picked up and possibly started in any leagues where he is still available.
Khalil Herbert, CHI – RB (65%)
In a similar boat as Carson, RB1 David Montgomery is out several weeks, and his backup should be more than serviceable. At first, we expected Damien Williams to take over rushing duties in Chicago, but after one week of Herbert out-touching Herbert and then testing positive for COVID-19, Herbert is certainly a back worth starting for the next few weeks.
Zach Ertz, ARI – TE (60%)
Thursday night was veteran tight end Zach Ertz’s final game playing for the Eagles. Following his solid outing, Ertz was traded to the Arizona Cardinals where he will have the opportunity to play for MVP candidate Kyler Murray. Ertz will be a bit of a wild card in Arizona but is worth a shot holding onto for a few weeks.
Week 6 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets: The Quarterbacks
The time to sign plug-and-play quarterbacks has come, as Week 7 has six teams on a bye. The group of QBs has the likes of Dak Prescott, Josh Allen, Kirk Cousins, and Justin Herbert. There’s a very good chance that all of those QBs are starting in your leagues, so here are your subs.
Tua Tagovailoa, MIA – QB (17%)
Tua tossed 33 passes for over 300 yards in his return from the IR on Sunday morning, and since Tua is yet to prove himself in the NFL, that could be a good sign for fantasy owners looking for a QB. Tua is well worth your while to fill your bye week hole or even as potential trade value in the future.
Teddy Bridgewater, DEN – QB (20%)
Bridgewater’s Week 6 performance was quite interesting. Points-wise, he was solid. Touchdown-wise, he was great. Interceptions on the other hand, terrible. Bridgewater’s TD:INT ratio in the last two weeks has been 5:4, despite not throwing a single pick until Week 5. Bridgewater could be used but would be the last of my choices among these QBs.
Matt Ryan, ATL – QB (56%)
Matt Ryan and the 2-3 Atlanta Falcons were among the teams in the first wave of bye weeks. Going into the bye, Ryan threw 8 touchdowns and no interceptions in his last three performances, Ryan is a safe plug and play for any owners looking to fill a bye week hole. Ryan likely will not be a long-term solution, but with Cordarrelle Patterson and Calvin Ridley, he could also be helpful for teams suffering QB injuries.
