Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Thursday that he does not have a firm date when Tom Brady will return to the team but that the team and Brady will revisit it after the Tennessee game according to The Athletic’s Greg Auman.
Fantasy Impact: Brady remains away from the team on a hiatus for “personal reasons” that was reportedly planned well before training camp. It remains unknown publicly what exactly the “personal reasons” are, only that he is addressing them and the absence was pre-planned. When Brady left, Bowles said he would return after the Tennessee game and now there is “no firm date” and they will “revisit” the situation after their second preseason game. The longer this goes on, the louder the rumors that Brady is re-retiring will get. This lack of preparation, or at least the appearance of it, is incredibly off-brand for the seven-time Super Bowl Champion and at the very least should be concerning for fantasy managers even if he does play because his heart doesn’t appear fully in this season. That being said, if he remains out of retirement it should be expected that Brady wouldn’t play if he wasn’t going to give it his full effort. For now, it is wait-and-see until after Tampa Bay’s game against the Titans on Saturday night.
