FanDuel Wild Card Weekend — Dollar Menu
FanDuel Wild Card Weekend Quarterback
Josh Allen ($7,800 BUF @ HOU)
Josh Allen has been a very productive fantasy quarterback this season. Allen is not a guy who completes tons of passes per game but he still finds a way to produce for those that invest in him.
In fact, Allen only had more than 20 completions in five games this season, yet he averaged 18.6 FanDuel points per game.
One large part of Allen’s formula for success is that he is a very talented runner. He has nine rushing touchdowns on the year, which leads all quarterbacks and is ninth-most in the league, regardless of position.
The Texans come into the playoffs with the league’s 29th pass defense and 25th run defense. This bodes well for Allen as he can take advantage of the defense both through the air and on the ground.
In Week 15, Ryan Tannehill was able to pass for two touchdowns and run for one on his way to 25.16 FanDuel points against the Texans. I expect a similar performance this week from Allen, who is priced sixth out of eight starting quarterbacks this weekend.
FanDuel Wild Card Weekend Running Backs
Devin Singletary ($6,200, BUF @ HOU)
In his last four starts, Singletary faced the league’s first, fourth, fifth, and ninth-ranked defenses. He now gets the 28th ranked Texans, who allow right under 25 FanDuel points per game to opposing running backs. The Texans have the worst defense of any team in the playoffs and my first two picks clearly reflect that.
Singletary is a very talented back that should be able to take full advantage. He is currently tied with Derrick Henry at 5.1 yards per carry on the season, which is good for third amongst all running backs.
Henry just posted a ridiculous 39.1 FanDuel points on the Texans in Week 17 by gashing them for 211 yards and three touchdowns. While I do not expect Singletary to repeat Henry’s performance, I do expect success for a starting back with a good matchup and low price.
WR: D.K. Metcalf ($6,200, SEA @ PHI)
D.K. Metcalf has had a very good rookie season and has been much more productive than I imagined he would be.
The first-year receiver finished the regular season with 100 targets that he converted into 900 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He has been a source of big plays, averaging 15.5 yards per reception, which is good for 13th amongst all players.
In their week 17 game against the stout 49ers defense, Metcalf was Russell Wilson’s favorite target, catching six of his 12 targets for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Now the Seahawks pay a visit to Philadelphia and will face an Eagles defense that allows over 33 FanDuel points per game to opposing receivers. With a depleted backfield against a formidable run defense, the Seahawks will lean on the arm of Russell Wilson and the ability of his receivers to consistently beat a shaky Eagles secondary.
FanDuel Wild Card Weekend Tight End
Taysom Hill ($5,200, MIN @ NO)
Apparently, Taysom Hill now qualifies as a tight end in FanDuel games, which is news to me. It doesn’t come as a surprise though, because Hill will likely line up at a minimum of four offensive positions in this game.
He has three receiving touchdowns in the last five games and is averaging 9.6 FanDuel points per game during that stretch. He has the potential to score as a passer, rusher, or receiver and has a good price, making him a strong value play at tight end.
FanDuel Wild Card Weekend Defense/Special Teams
Bills ($4,000 @ HOU)
The Buffalo Bills have a very solid defense that has them sitting at fourth in overall defensive rankings for the 2019 regular season. They have been able to register 44 sacks this season and though the Texans offensive line has improved this year, they still struggle at times to protect the quarterback.
Their 49 sacks allowed this year is much better than the league-worst 62 they allowed a season ago but still ranks them in the worst 25% in the NFL.
Will Fuller and Kenny Stills are also both dinged up and “questionable” for the Texans, which may take away some of their big play ability. If they are limited or out this weekend, the Bills can focus more of their attention to stopping DeAndre Hopkins.
