This isn’t a list of the best players for Week 9, but our FanDuel value plays will give you the best bang for your buck.
FanDuel Dollar Menu – Weekly Value Picks
Alright, alright, you got me, none of these players actually cost a dollar. What they are is a list of players that provide excellent value for you each week in FanDuel contests. You know, the same way that the dollar menu at your favorite fast food restaurant provides you with a meal that may not be gourmet but it fills you up without breaking the bank. Again, this is not a list of the best players each week, this is a list of the players that offer the best bang for your buck.
With that being said, these are my FanDuel Value Plays for Week 9.

QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick ($7,100, TB @ CAR)
The QB carousel in Tampa Bay continues to turn and Ryan Fitzpatrick finds himself back in the starting lineup after replacing Jameis Winston late in their Week 8 contest. He came in and brought back some of that Fitzmagic to throw for 194 yards and two touchdowns in a little more than one quarter of action. Even with his tendency to throw the ball to the wrong team on occasion, Fitzpatrick has put up huge numbers this season and now he visits a Panthers team with a mediocre pass defense. He should put up solid numbers again this week.
Additional Value Pick: Baker Mayfield ($7,400, KC @ CLE) is averaging a very respectable 15+ F.P.P.G. this season. Although he is working with a new head coach and offensive coordinator this week, he will be looking to keep pace with Patrick Mahomes and the explosive Chiefs offense. The Browns will have to air it out resulting in opportunity for Mayfield and the Browns receivers.
RB: Isaiah Crowell ($5,700, NYJ @ MIA)
The Jets run game has struggled to get going in recent weeks. Bilal Powell is now on IR and Isaiah Crowell is left to handle the majority of work in the Jets backfield. Though he hasn’t produced much since, he is still the same back that rushed for 219 yards against the Broncos four weeks ago. As Week 9 approaches, the Dolphins 29th ranked run defense is a welcome sight for Crowell and the Jets ground game, as they just surrendered 133 yards and a touchdown to Lamar Miller last Thursday night.
RB: Lamar Miller ($6,500, HOU @ DEN)
Lamar Miller has finally strung together two productive games, and this week he travels to Denver to try to make it three in a row. The Houston back has surpassed 100 rushing yards and added a TD in each of the last two weeks. Due to Will Fuller’s injury and the unfamiliarity of new addition Demaryius Thomas, it would be wise for the Texans to establish the running game early against the 27th ranked run defense of the Broncos. This should result in another solid day of production for Miller.
Additional Value Pick: Latavius Murray ($6,700 DET @ MIN) is averaging over 20 F.P.P.G. over the last three weeks. I expect Dalvin Cook to either be out or limited this week so the production should continue for Murray against the 31st ranked rush defense of the Detroit Lions.
WR: Devin Funchess ($6,400, TB @ CAR)
Devin Funchess had a subpar showing in Week 8 against the number one ranked pass defense of the Baltimore Ravens. In the two weeks prior to that game he had garnered 19 targets and turned them into 11 catches for 136 yards and two TDs. Week 9 brings the dreadful 31st ranked pass defense of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to town. As Cam Newton’s number one option at receiver, Funchess should have a very good day.
WR: Courtland Sutton ($5,500, HOU @ DEN)
Demaryius Thomas, the figure that has been a fixture in the Denver Broncos locker room and on the field for nine seasons will be on the other sideline this week. That opens the door very wide for Courtland Sutton to step in. Sutton has already been a very solid contributor for the Broncos this season, averaging almost 9 F.P.P.G. over his last four contests. With the departure of Thomas, Sutton’s snap count and target share should both increase significantly, likely increasing his fantasy output. Emmanuel Sanders should continue to see the majority of defensive attention resulting in one on one opportunities for the talented Sutton.
Additional Value Pick: Kenny Golladay ($6,200, DET @ MIN) will start opposite Marvin Jones after the departure of Golden Tate. Golladay is already having a very good season and this move should only help things. He should get plenty of targets against the 15th ranked pass defense of the division rival Vikings.
TE: Jordan Reed ($5,600, ATL @ WAS)
Jordan Reed is coming into the Week 9 contest with the Atlanta Falcons having received 12 targets against the Giants in Week 8. He is a very talented pass catcher that receives a high volume of targets in a matchup against the Falcons. In 2018, that has proven to be a simple recipe for success as they are giving up over 300 yards through the air per game. My prediction here is that Reed has his best game of the season.
Additional Value Pick: Hayden Hurst ($4,300, PIT @ BAL) received his highest number of targets last week against the Panthers and scored his first TD as a pro. The rookie is the most talented receiver of the crowded Baltimore tight end group and he should continue to set himself apart in the coming weeks. At $4,300 he is worth the add if you need someone with a low price tag and relatively high ceiling.
DEF: Chiefs ($3,900 @CLE)
It isn’t very often that I would pick the 31st ranked defense in the league but the Chiefs are much improved. The Kansas City defense is now averaging 10+ F.P.P.G. over their last four games and if you take out the game in Foxboro against Tom Brady and the Patriots, that number jumps up to 15 F.P.P.G. This week they travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns who just fired their head coach and offensive coordinator. They will likely be playing with a big lead throughout, meaning plenty of opportunities for sacks and interceptions when the Browns ultimately have to air it out.
Additional Value Pick: Vikings ($4,100 vs DET) The Vikings welcome the Detroit Lions to U.S. Bank Stadium for a Week 9 divisional matchup. The Lions offense comes in ranked in the middle of the pack and now with one less weapon since the trade of Golden Tate to Philadelphia. The Vikings will look to pressure Matthew Stafford and force him to make bad decisions resulting in turnovers.
