FanDuel Week 8 Value Picks: Ryan Tannehill, Sony Michel and Courtland Sutton are among this week’s smart FanDuel plays that won’t break the bank.
The FanDuel Dollar Menu provides you with a list of players that provide excellent value for you each week in FanDuel contests. FanDuel Dollar Menu – Week 8 Value Picks
QB: Ryan Tannehill ($6,900 TB @ TEN)
Ryan Tannehill was solid in his first start for the Tennessee Titans in Week 7. He completed right under 80% of his throws for 312 yards and two touchdowns while throwing one interception.
This week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers bring their league-worst pass defense to Nashville, presenting another great opportunity for Tannehill and his young, talented, receivers to flourish. The Bucs are allowing the most yards, 260 per game, to opposing quarterbacks this season. Teddy Bridgewater lit them up for 314 yards and four touchdowns in week five, and this week Ryan Tannehill is hoping to mimic that performance. With only a couple starting quarterbacks priced lower than Tannehill this week, he is a solid value pick.
Additional Value Pick: Gardner Minshew II ($6,900, NYJ @ JAC) got back on track with 21 FanDuel points last week against the Bengals. This week he will face the 24th ranked pass defense of the New York Jets, making him a legitimate value at $6,900.
RB: Sony Michel ($6,500, CLE @ NE)
Sony Michel found the endzone three times against the Jets in Week 7 and will likely revisit again this weekend as the Patriots host the 30th ranked rush defense of the Cleveland Browns. Michel is averaging 18 FanDuel points per game over his last three contests and has gotten 21 touches per game during that time.
The Patriots are leaning on great defense paired with an effective run game. That formula should work well again against the Browns as they are allowing 154 rushing yards per game and 24.6 FanDuel points per game to running backs. Michel should have another productive day and is priced well at $6,500.
RB: Ty Johnson ($5,200, NYG @ DET)
Ty Johnson will be a very popular pick this week as he replaced the injured Kerryon Johnson in the Detroit Lions backfield. The young back is priced at $5,200, which is very low for a starting running back on a productive offense. After entering the contest in week 7, he turned 14 touches into 7.7 FanDuel points against a tough Minnesota Vikings defense.
This week he will look to carve up the much softer defense of the New York Giants. The Giants just allowed Chase Edmonds to rack up 150 total yards and three touchdowns on his way to 34 FanDuel points. Johnson’s ceiling is incredibly high for a back with such a small price, invest accordingly.
Additional Value Pick: Chase Edmonds ($6,100, ARI @ NO) destroyed the defense of the New York Giants last week and likely helped his investors win their DFS games with his 34 FanDuel points. With David Johnson’s status still in the air, Edmonds will be a great investment if Johnson is out this week. Even if Johnson is able to go, Edmonds likely earned himself some touches with his performance last week.
WR: Julian Edelman ($6,600, CLE @ NE)
Julian Edelman has continued to do the things that have made him Tom Brady’s most recent go-to-guy. He is a tough, highly targeted, productive receiver that has turned 12 targets per game into 15.6 FanDuel points per game over the last three weeks.
Josh Gordon is now gone for the season and new addition Mohammed Sanu is likely very limited in his knowledge of the offense, meaning Edelman will likely once again be the most targeted receiver on the Patriots offense. He is priced very well this week and will likely continue to be productive, making him a strong value pick this week.
WR: Courtland Sutton ($6,000, DEN @ IND)
Courtland Sutton is somewhat quietly having a very good season. The big wideout has seven or more targets in every game this season and he is turning those targets into FanDuel points. Sutton is averaging 13.2 FanDuel points per game, which is more than 12 other receivers that are priced above him in the Sunday main slate alone.
This will be the first game without fellow wideout Emmanuel Sanders, who was traded to San Francisco, likely resulting in an increase in targets for Sutton. He will look to take advantage of the 20th ranked pass defense of the Indianapolis Colts, who just allowed both Deandre Hopkins and Kenny Stills to eclipse 100 yards receiving in week seven. Sutton is priced incredibly low this week and has the potential to provide a very high rate of return.
Additional Value Pick: Kenny Stills ($5,700, OAK @ HOU) should see extra opportunities with Will Fuller likely to miss extended time. Stills averaged over 26 yards per catch last week on his way to 105 yards. The 31st ranked pass defense of the Oakland Raiders is a welcome sight for Stills and the entire Texans pass offense.
TE: Dallas Goedert ($4,800, PHI @ BUF)
Dallas Goedert has outscored Zach Ertz over the past two games 20.2 to 10.2 FanDuel points. Goedert is priced $1,500 cheaper than Ertz this week in a tough matchup against the Bills. Goedert has received three or more targets in every game, excluding one this season and has 12 over the past two games. He is being utilized more by the Eagles and he is gaining the trust of Carson Wentz weekly.
As stated previously, the matchup isn’t great, but the price is. If you are looking for a tight end that could produce 50+ yards and a touchdown for less than $5,000 then Goedert is your man.
Additional Value Pick: Jonnu Smith ($4,900 TB @ TEN) showed good chemistry last week with new starter Ryan Tannehill by catching all three of his targets for 64 yards. Delanie Walker is questionable and still not practicing after injuring his ankle last week. If Walker is out, Smith is a great value play.
DEF: Panthers ($3,500 @ SF)
Carolina is averaging 15.5 FanDuel points over their last four games. They are now coming out of a bye week, into a game with the undefeated San Francisco 49ers, meaning they have had additional time to get healthy and study. The 49ers have been able to run the ball well this season but have struggled at times to pass, as they are ranked 25th in addition to having 11 turnovers on the season. The Panthers are priced surprisingly low this week for a defense that has been playing very good football.
Additional Value Pick: Jaguars ($4,500 vs NYJ) The Jets will be visiting the Jaguars on a short week after one of the most dreadful offensive performances in recent history. The Jaguars scored 17 FanDuel points last week and the Jets rank last or near the bottom of the pack in nearly every offensive category.
