Who to Start in Week 4
Jared Goff (QB, LAR)
Start over Matt Ryan, Philip Rivers
“Forget “road Ben,” have you met “home Jared”? Goff’s weird home/road splits have been very Roethlisberger-esque since the start of 2018. Goff has scored 18-plus fantasy points nine times, and eight of them have come at home. During that stretch, he averages 24.4 PPG at home and just 13.3 PPG on the road.” — Matthew Berry, ESPN
“I’m expecting Goff to be a top-five quarterback this week, and I’m excited about Cooper Kupp, Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods all having dominant outings. Goff is due for a big game, and it will happen against Tampa Bay at home.” — Jamey Eisenberg, CBSSports
Wayne Gallman (RB, NYG)
Start over Carlos Hyde, Sony Michel
“He and fullback Elijhaa Penny are the only two backs currently on the Giants roster, almost guaranteeing Gallman will get a bunch of touches against a defense that is allowing 142 rushing yards per game.” — Joshua Mutters, 5th Down Fantasy
Gallman was the starting RB for Clemson’s national championship team in 2016, and he’s now suddenly a feature back on a team led by Danny Dimes up against one of the league’s worst defenses, yet he’s the minimum $10 in Yahoo DFS. — Dalton Del Don, Yahoo! Sports
Marlon Mack (RB, IND)
Start over Kerryon Johnson, Todd Gurley
“Marlon Mack has the most rush attempts (61) in the NFL and is averaging an above-average 4.9 yards per carry. With game script on his side as 6.5-point home favorites, Marlon Mack should eat. Mack is an RB1 since Nyheim Hines is mostly a non-factor.” — Hayden Winks, Rotoworld
“He’s now scored at least 16 PPR points in two of three games, and I like that he has two catches and three targets in consecutive weeks. I’d love to see more of him in the passing game, which could happen against the Raiders with T.Y. Hilton (quadriceps) likely out. “ — Jamey Eisenberg, CBSSports
Terry McLaurin (WR, WAS)
Start over D.J. Moore, Mecole Hardman
“New York’s pass defense has been one of the worst in the league, ranking 31st in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play and dead last in Success Rate allowed to opposing wide receivers. With numbers like that, it’s no surprise the Giants have allowed the most fantasy points to wideouts thus far. This sets up for a big potential performance from Terry McLaurin, who’s emerged as Washington’s top wide receiver.” — Kenyata Storin, NumberFire.com
“McLaurin is a speedy receiver that has big-play potential and he is facing the league’s worst pass defense this week. I think Case Keenum will be looking his way often and the matchup bodes well for those that invest in the young receiver this week.” — Joshua Mutters, 5th Down Fantasy
Sterling Shepard (WR, NYG)
Start over Marvin Jones, Curtis Samuel
“With Golden Tate suspended for one more game, Shepard is the clear-cut top wide receiver in an offense that just lost its bedrock in Saquon Barkley. All this coincides with a mouth-watering matchup against Washington, which just surrendered three touchdowns to Taylor Gabriel.” — Andrew Gould, FantasyPros.com
“The decision to bench Eli Manning in favor of Daniel Jones helps the entire Giants offense and should be particularly beneficial to their receiving corps. They square off against a Redskins team coming off short rest that was exposed by the Bears and quarterback Mitch Trubisky on Monday Night Football.’” — Samantha Previte, NY Post
Darren Waller (TE, OAK)
Start over Greg Olsen, Mark Andrews
“Across all positions, only Keenan Allen has more receptions this season than Waller the Baller. A top-three tight end play for me (over Mark Andrews and Zach Ertz) this week, he should be in your flex if you happen to have Kelce or Engram.” — Matthew Berry, ESPN
“For the season, Waller has 26 receptions on a whopping 29 targets in three games. Moreover, the Colts are the fifth-worst team against opposing tight ends. Start Waller in all formats.” — Dr. Roto, SI.com
Who to Sit in Week 4
Tom Brady (QB, NE)
Sit for Kyler Murray, Philip Rivers
“He’s laid waste to the Steelers, Dolphins, and Jets to open the year. But Week 4 will present by far Brady’s toughest test thus far. Buffalo is No. 5 in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks despite facing the fourth-most pass attempts. Quarterbacks are averaging just 5.5 yards per attempt against Buffalo, the third-worst mark in the league.” — Nick Mensio, Rotoworld
“Suffocating corners Tre’Davious White and Levi Wallace have given up a combined 68.6 passer rating, 1.00 yards per snap and one TD to their assignments.” — Brad Evans, Yahoo! Sports
Todd Gurley (RB, LAR)
Sit for Chris Carson, Leonard Fournette
“The Bucs defense has allowed the fewest fantasy points to RBs this season and Todd Gurley isn’t seeing RB1 usage. That could change at any time, but banking on more volume this week would be based off “feel”, not evidence. Gurley is an RB2 that doesn’t look overly comfortable in his full-speed cuts, while Malcolm Brown remains one of the best handcuffs in fantasy.” — Hayden Winks, Rotoworld
“Expect another drab Gurley performance this week. Under Todd Bowles, Tampa, widely perceived to be the weakest defense entering the season, has exceeded expectations. The Bucs have surrendered just 2.7 yards per carry, 53.3 rush yards per game, zero touchdowns and the second-fewest fantasy points to RBs. LB Kevin Minster (12.9) and DI William Gholston (12.5) have tallied handsome run-stop percentages.” — Brad Evans, Yahoo! Sports
Sony Michel (RB, NE)
Sit for James White, Chris Thompson
“Michel might have scored a touchdown last week, but he also had a brutal 1.2 yards per carry average. Plus, he’s averaging just 2.4 yards per tote on the season, and he lost work to Rex Burkhead last week.” — Michael Fabiano, NFL.com
“Michel is last in yards after contact per attempt per PFF and could lose snaps if the Patriots move away from 21 personnel with FB James Develin on injured reserve. Michel is as touchdown-or-bust as it gets. He’s a zero-floor RB3 with touchdown equity.” — Hayden Winks, Rotoworld
Stefon Diggs (WR, MIN)
Sit for Demarcus Robinson, D.J. Moore
“The run-heavy approach of the Vikings has made things especially hard on Stefon Diggs’ fantasy prospects, seeing just 12 targets total so far — Kirk saw 12 targets in last week alone. Minnesota ranks 32nd in passing play percentage and is the only team that throws under 40% of the time.” — Kenyata Storin, NumberFire.com
“Diggs has massively let down his owners this season and is among the leaders for biggest fantasy bust in 2019. He has just six total receptions on the season and has posted less than six PPR points in two of his first three outings. Don’t look now, but things will not get any easier in Week 4 with a road matchup against the Bears.” — Frankie Taddeo, SI.com
John Brown (WR, BUF)
Sit for Allen Robinson, D.K. Metcalf
“Brown has given us the full mix thus far; a great game, a solid game, a passable game. This week against New England, look for the bottom to drop out. New England finally has a formidable defense (this unit wasn’t better than 16th in defensive DVOA the three prior years), and when Bill Belichick examines the Buffalo offense, he’ll recognize Brown as the guy to eliminate.” — Scott Pianowski, Yahoo! Sports
“Brown has emerged as the top option in the pass attack for the Bills, but it’s hard to trust him in a brutal matchup against the Patriots and shutdown CB Stephon Gilmore. In fact, our friends over at Pro Football Focus rank this as the worst matchup for any wideout this week.” — Michael Fabiano, NFL.com
Greg Olsen (TE, CAR)
Sit for Darren Waller, Mark Andrews
“The Texans are a top-five defense against opposing tight ends, and with Kyle Allen starting at QB once again, I worry that Olsen might be overlooked in the passing game.” — Dr. Roto, SI.com
