The more I learn about fantasy football, the more I realize how unpredictable it can be. Who knew that the Panthers would dominate Brady and the Buccaneers in week 7? Who knew Daniel Jones would finish as a top 5 quarterback? Who knew Matty Ice would get iced?
It’s tough to tell what may happen any given week, but we always have to prepare regardless. Let’s prepare for this week with the following options for Week 8 streaming quarterbacks and defenses.
Week 8 streaming quarterbacks
Andy Dalton (NO)
Las Vegas Raiders. That’s all I need to say. But, of course, I’ll give more context.
The New Orleans offense has found some signs of life lately. So, hopefully, this is a trend that continues. The better part for this week is that the Raiders rank 32nd against quarterbacks. There are 32 teams in the NFL, so by my calculation, that’s last in the league. This bodes well for Andy Dalton if he starts this week.
As of now, Dalton is the presumed starter. If something changes, simply pivot to Jameis Winston. Either player should have a great week. Davis Mills of the Houston Texans threw for 302 yards and two touchdowns. We know the Texans are not good, but still, Mills was able to produce. Look for either Saints quarterback to do the same.
Daniel Jones (NYG)
Danny Dimes is doing the most with his legs, and it’s not only helping his team win but also providing him with some fantasy value.
This week Daniel Jones gets to play Seattle who is currently ranked 22nd against quarterbacks. Jones threw for 202 yards and a touchdown against Jacksonville, so he can certainly repeat those numbers against Seattle.

But, that was only a part of what Jones is capable of. He also ran for 107 yards and a touchdown. I’ll take that kind of upside on the ground any week of the year, especially in a good matchup. I’m starting Jones with full confidence this week.
Davis Mills (HOU)
This is the “Break in case of emergency” play of the week. Hopefully, you’re not in a position to have to start Mill this week. But, Mills did have a nice game coming out of the bye week.
The Texans’ offense still looked stagnant at times even against a bad Raiders defense. That didn’t stop Mills from throwing for 302 yards and two touchdowns. The Texans need to find wins at some point. This week Mills will throw against a Titans D/ST that currently ranks 28th against fantasy quarterbacks.
The Titans showed some signs of life on the defensive end last week, but they have not proved that they can play well consistently. Mills is certainly not my first option as a pickup this week, but if you are in a pinch he is a starting quarterback with a solid matchup.
Week 8 streaming defenses
Jaguars D/ST
The Jaguars D/ST started the year off well. In the first four weeks of the season, they averaged 11.5 fantasy points per game. Since then they have cooled off.
They may be able to reclaim some of that early-season magic this week against the Broncos, who have no identity, and they can barely move the ball on offense even with Russell Wilson at quarterback.
The Broncos are broken at the moment. As both teams travel to London, look for the Jaguars to take full advantage of this lifeless Broncos offense.
Falcons D/ST
The Falcons D/ST is not great by any means. However, they do get to play against a Panthers offense without Christian McCaffrey. In addition, PJ Walker is the current starting quarterback.
I know the Panthers had a spark last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that’s why the expression “Any given Sunday” exists. I wouldn’t expect great things to continue for the Panthers’ offense, and the Falcons should prey on them this week.
